Welcome to Block Day! *#2's you're in charge of retrieving holders this week* ___________________________________________________ Today we will kick off our day with 20 minutes of Journal Time. This is your time to think and jot down your thoughts and understanding of what we've learned so far this week... For today's Journal:
Here are some examples of a good journal entry:
| Learning Goal: Students will understand the term “citizen” and all it implies: the legal means of becoming a U.S. citizen, the obligations associated with being a citizen and understanding the responsibilities at the local, state and federal levels. |
Task I: Deciphering Between Responsibilities & Duties
As citizens we have rights, responsibilities & duties! (Wow that's a lot). A right is like a privileged (We discussed this, such as going to school). Today we will learn a responsibility is something a citizen ought to do, but cannot be punished for not doing. A duty is an obligation that is legally required; the government can penalize someone for not fulfilling a legal duty. (Examples Below)

Task III: Workbooks
- You must obtain a workbook today (you can plan to carry it home sometime before Friday of this week). *** Immediately place your full name and class period in the inside cover.***
- If you finish before your fellow classmates your group will refresh their new knowledge by obtaining your workbook and beginning the Citizenship Unit. We will complete the workbook alongside each Unit to keep the information strong in our minds. This will be self-paced and due dates will be provided when we near completion of the Unit (I will let you know about 5 days in advance).
