Task II: Forms/Types of Government vs. Systems of Government
We spoke and watched some videos (Along with making a chart in our notes section of our binder!) about the different Forms or Types of Government. Can you believe we also have Systems of Government?!
A System of Government that a country has tells us how the power is shared or not shared on different levels of government.

A System of Government that a country has tells us how the power is shared or not shared on different levels of government.
The main systems of government we will look at today are on pg. 77 and include
- Federal: In a Federal System of Government Power is Divided among a central, national government and smaller self-governing political units like states. (This is what we have in the U.S.because we have a federal (Also called national government. Yet, each state also has it's own government)
- Unitary: Unitary Systems of Government is when the central government is completely in control. Some examples are in France, Japan and Great Britain.
- Confederal: Confederal Systems of Government have member states that have agreed to join together voluntarily. This is what the U.S. had when we were first seeking independence. The states or nations join together and create a common body to carry out certain functions, but they keep their individual powers.
Task III to be completed today:
1.) Complete Who Rules Activity Sheets with your face partner
2.) As a group create an infographic ( a picture or graph with information on it, like the ones I showed you this week) Comparing and contrasting these different systems of government.
